Recurring payments

Probably this question has already been asked, I need to confirm.

We are researching potentially switching our provider from Authorize.net to Payeezy (if we can get certain features). One involves recurring payments. I have been through most of the API docs searching for a way to create a recurring "customer" which would then be charged monthly automatically. We are currently using PHP through Authorize for the entire process (create the customer w/ credit card information, dates of payments, etc.) so after the client does the setup (through our secure site) the rest is handled by Authorize. Am I correct in saying the the only way this would work through Payeezy is if we manually enter this information through the web portal? I would like to use the Direct API but I cannot find any functions, code, etc. for creating the recurring account.

Please let me know if I am wrong, and if so where to look.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Recurring payments

Hi Darrin,

You are right. As of today, we do not support automatic recurring payments through our APIs. You can however set up automatic recurring payments through our web portal a.k.a. RPM. That said, automatic recurring payments via APIs is definitely on our product roadmap and we are working towards it.

Regards,

Payeezy Team.

Thanks. I will look forward to that.

Re: Recurring payments

Just echoing the prior person. The lack of this feature is a show stopper since it isn't feasible to create them manually for many situations and doesn't work for my business.

PayPal's API offers this feature as well (https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/paypal-payments-pro/integration-guide/WPRecurringPayments/)

I'll check back down the road to see if you offer this feature but for now cannot make the move.

Gerry,

Thank you for the feedback. Enabling recurring payments is on our product roadmap.

Re: Recurring payments

Once again, re-iterating how important this feature is. This probably won't help me on the project I am working on now, but hopefully in the future I can recommend Payeezy as a full featured gateway for automated billing.

Andrew,

Thanks for your feedback. We have it on our roadmap but no concrete date yet.

Re: Recurring payments

Are you providing Recurring payments With API now ?

Thanks,
Maulik

Re: Recurring payments

Hi Maulik,

As of today, we do not support creating a recurring payment plan via our APIs. However, there are a couple of other ways to achieve recurring payments:

1. Third party partners - Work with our partners (For example: Chargify) who can manage the recurring plan for you. They have existing connections to Payeezy and can process transactions on your behalf. They have APIs that you can use to create recurring plans.

2. Recurring indicator - This is applicable to US merchants only. Merchants managing their own recurring plans can pass the transactions through the API by utilizing the recurring indicator. In your purchase transaction payload, include "eci_indicator"="2".

3. Creating payment plans manually - Merchants can create recurring plans manually via the gateway interface. This works for merchants with less number of recurring customers.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Payeezy team

Harvinder - Please check my previous comment and let me know if you have a specific question.

Re: Recurring payments

We also have a similar requirement where we are going to do a automated billing for our customers who have opted for auto-pay, now since we cannot set up a recurring payment plan using the API, we are tokenizing the card information and will be re-using the saved token each time we send a payment request to the gateway. Is there a potential problem in this approach and also can we implement a similar approach if the customer ops for eCheck as the preferred payment method.

Re: Recurring payments

Richard - Yes. There should be no problem implementing it that way. If you face any issues with this, please send an email to support@payeezy.com and they will be able to help.

Re: Recurring payments

We are about to purchase Payeezy and have been told that the recurring payments / donation option is set up. I want to confirm before we make the purchase. Thanks.

Re: Recurring payments

Payeezy supports recurring payments. I'd advise to contact the help desk regarding how they are set up and used in relation to integration with a hosted payment page. You would call (855) 448-3493 Option 2, Option 3.

Re: Recurring payments

So in 2017, 2 years after this thread started, does Payeezy API support Recurring payments or not?

Seems like no from looking above, although the last couple comment/replies might indicate otherwise. Just reached out to one of your 3rd party developers and they indicated it does not.

Re: Recurring payments

You can initiate recurring transactions via API if you utilize tokenization. This would not add transactions to the Payeezy Gateway’s recurring system and your application would be responsible for handling the logic of sending purchase transactions to the gateway along with the frequency, amount etc. The basic process flow is below.
• You submit a $0 pre-authorization via Direct API (or Payeezy.JS) with the card details.
• Our response contains the assigned Transarmor Token number in place of the credit card number
• You store the token on an external application/database
• You then submit a purchase transaction with the Token number, card expiration, cardholder name, and credit card type based on the frequency you set in your coding

https://support.payeezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/204029989-First-Data-Payeezy-Gateway-Web-Service-API-Reference-Guide-#3.4
https://support.payeezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/203731209-Using-TransArmor-Tokens-on-Self-Service-DEMO-for-Testing

You can only add recurring transactions to Payeezy’s recurring system with a hosted payment page integration, not an API integration. With the hosted payment page integration method there are drawbacks. An email receipt is not sent to the merchant or customer when Payeezy’s recurring system executes the transaction. We also do not send a call to your server/URL. Finally, any changes/modifications/deletions to the recurring transaction have to be done manually by logging into the Payeezy Gateway website. It cannot be done through an API call.

Re: Recurring payments

About five months later in this thread, and I'd just echo the comments above; true automated recurring billing via API, as is present in Stripe, Braintree, some Paypal flavors, Authorize.net, and other gateways would be very much appreciated. Not being able to do that makes integration with membership systems very difficult.

I recognize from comments above that it is on the roadmap. I hope that it's coming sooner than later; it's a fairly significant omission.

Re: Recurring payments

At this time there is no ETA for recurring payments to be managed via the Payeezy APIs. This doesn't mean that it won't be supported in the future but it will likely take some time before it's fully supported outside of the Payeezy Gateway website portal's recurring transaction system.
