Token response when submitting payment

Hi,

I'm successfully submitting a test payment using the following request in C# code.

var builder = new StringBuilder("{ " +
"\"merchant_ref\": \"Acme Sock\", " +
"\"transaction_type\": \"authorize\", " +
"\"method\": \"credit_card\", " +
"\"amount\": \"1299\", " +
"\"currency_code\": \"USD\", " +
"\"credit_card\": { " +
" \"type\": \"visa\", " +
" \"cardholder_name\": \"John Smith\", " +
" \"card_number\": \"4788250000028291\", " +
" \"exp_date\": \"1020\", " +
" \"cvv\": \"123\" " +
"} " +
"}");

The response has a token in it with an id for the token. Is this normal for all payments submitted to the API? Also, can this token be used to submit card payments in the future without submitting the whole card info? Thanks.

Jason,

Yes, it is normal.

Yes, it can be used to submit card payments in the future without submitting the whole card info.

Re: Token response when submitting payment

If authorize, purchase and create token API methods all return a valid FDToken (as they appear to do) then are there restrictions about which one to use? Is there a reason to use "Create Token" ( /v1/securitytokens ) rather than just Auth to get a token?

Hello Rick,

There is no restriction. However, we recommend that you use the getToken (/v1/securitytokens).
